Summer is upon us, and one of the best ways to truly prepare yourself, is to give your home all the attention that it needs. It's been a rather long Winter, and you're still most likely in hibernation mode, but it's time to snap out of that and get ready for the wonderful sunshine that is just around the corner. In order to do this, you need to get your creative mind on and be ready to get your hands dirty. This is part of the fun, it shouldn't feel like a chore or something that you're being made to do. It should be exciting and exhilarating taking charge and doing essentially whatever you want to do. It's your home, you're in control.

[ctt template=”4″ link=”2jcqo” via=”yes” ]Summer is to be spent in the garden, lying in the sun, throwing barbecues with all of your friends and families, enjoying one another's company. Here's how to modernize your home for the summer.[/ctt]
How To Modernize Your Home For The Summer
The house that you live in has a very big impact on the life that you live, along with the outlook that you have on things. Remember that a messy home means a messy mind, so it's important that you do all you can to keep it clean so you are free from worry and stress. There are many things in life that get us down and cause us to struggle, and one way to simplify all of that is to sort out where you live. Summer is a time that is meant to be spent in the garden, lying in the sun, throwing barbecues with all of your friends and families, enjoying one another's company – THAT'S what makes a Summer to remember.
So how can you make your home the perfect place to be in for when the sun comes out to play?
Change the color
If you're tired of the same old rooms, then a brilliant way of creating the appearance of a brand new home without having to do a lot of work, is to paint the walls. It's so simple, and yet so effective. A lot of homes tend to be a cream or beige shade because it supposedly fits with any theme, but let's face it – it's boring. If you want a modern look for your home that is full of personality, then you need to pick a colour scheme that works. Think about what you use all of your rooms for, and then you will have a better idea of the look that you want to create. Take the living room as an example, many people have different uses for it other than just watching the TV. It may be where you choose to relax in and wind down, or you may like to jam out and listen to some music. These two things are very different vibes. If you want a calm space, then pastel colors work well, along with deep browns. Whereas if you want a lively room them bright bold colors like reds, purples, and even burnt oranges fit awesomely.
Add an extension
If you wish your home was a little bigger so that you can enjoy more area to roam around in and spread out, then why not consider adding an extension? It can be as big or as little as you want it to be. You may decide to extend a room or just add a whole new extension to what you already have. Conservatories are a brilliant idea because they not only give you a brand new room to play around with, but it's mostly made out of glass and that allows all the sun to come in, making it a wonderful place to hang out in during the Summer. There are so many things you can do with it, from using it as a dining area to hold dinner parties, or making it a relaxing day room to hang out in and read books as the sun strokes your face. Better yet, you don't have to do a lot to it because if you already have all the natural sources that complete your look, all you have to do is decide on what to put inside. You can go as simple as you want by adding a mere lounger and coffee table. It's entirely up to you.
Let the light in
What better way to welcome the sun than by making sure you bring in as much natural light as you can? This will not only brighten up the place but also give you the appearance of your space being a lot bigger than it actually may be. Light is something that we crave, without it, a home will be dark and dreary and that's no way to live. With companies like Modeen Company, you can ensure that you have the right kind of windows and doors fitted that provide you with all the necessary safety, while allowing all of the suns natural rays to peep in and caress your interior. Another great idea is to add french shutters to the windows. This will not only make your home feel very chic and European, but you will be able to control the heat that comes in. When it gets particularly hot and your home starts to overheat, you can close them to immediately cool your area, and then open again when you crave more heat.
Move around furniture
It doesn't sound like much, but you would be surprised at how much a difference just moving some bits of furniture around can make. If your sofa is currently positioned against the wall with it's back to the window, think about moving it to the opposite side so that the light is headed in your direction instead. Move the fancy coffee table into the center of the room and sit it on top of a new fluffy rug that is a bright color to create more of an abstract vibe. Having something in the center of a room is unconventional, but that's what makes it so cool. If you don't have a lot of space to work with, the use of moving mirrors around can really give the sense of a bigger room, even if it's not the case. Make sure that you position the mirror so that light bounces off it so it can then disperse off into many different directions, creating new angles that don't actually exist.
Bring art in
Have you ever gone into a home that is full of crazy, wacky art and just thought – wow? Well, you don't have to take things too far, but you can push the limits as much as you want to. Wooden art is always a nice touch because it brings in a nature aspect that is both calming and fascinating. You can find some great buys at local charity shops or craft stores. Paintings are of course the most common type of art, and they're always fun to play around with because there is no right or wrong. You could even have a go at creating something yourself. Buy a canvas and let your creative juices flow through the paintbrush. You don't even necessary need any kind of idea to begin with – go wild and express yourself. That is what is so beautiful about art. Or you could paint directly onto one of your walls so that it becomes the feature of the room. There are many great mural ideas that you can follow, or just take it in whatever direction you want to go in.
Green up the garden
One area that many people tend to overlook when they are concentrating on changing up the interior of their home, is the garden. This is just as important if not more, because it's where you will be spending a lot of your time there in the Summer. So make sure that you give it a lot of your tender loving care to ensure it looks as good as it can. Mow down your lawn so that everything is of the same length and in tune to the surroundings. Remove all of the weeds that are lurking around as those will make your garden seem a lot messier than it actually is. This is annoying and will take a while, but the results will make it all worthwhile – just remember you will need to do it regularly to maintain a clean look. If it's still looking a little dull, bring in some color by planting flowers. This will stimulate your senses because they are not only pretty to look at, but they will smell divine too.
Now you have some ideas, implement as many of them as you think you need in order to modernise your home in time for the Summer. As long as you have a basic idea in mind, there is no reason that you won't be able to achieve it. Remember that you want something that you're in tune with – it doesn't matter what anyone else likes. It's your home and you can do whatever you want with it. If you're happy and content with your nest, then everyone else will be too, and they'll be sure to let you know as soon as they get an invite.
