Baby Proofing is the process of making your home safe for babies. It is essential to do it before they start crawling, walking, and exploring around. Baby Proofing can be done at any age, but it's best to do it before the baby starts exploring.

Different applications can be used like- installing safety gates at the top and bottom of staircases, placing padding on sharp corners or edges of furniture, removing heavy items from tables or shelves, labeling electrical outlets with covers or safety plugs. These are some of the easiest ways of babyproofing your house.

The Hazards of Steps and Stairs for Babies

It is a known fact that approximately 20% of babies between the age of 3 and 18 months fall down a flight or a couple of flights of stairs per year.

Do you have young children at home? If so, be aware that some children are at risk for falling from unsafe staircases. For example, if your child can't walk independently, they may slip down the stairs because they can’t maintain their balance as they walk up or downstairs. This is where Baby Safety becomes imperative.

Some parents find it difficult to afford expensive stair gates for their homes, so they turn to DIY solutions instead. Depending on the type of DIY solution, homeowners may have to drill holes into walls or remove baseboards and trim work to install a gate. Additionally, a DIY gate might not be as sturdy as the one you might buy from a store.

Protecting Your Infant From Sliding Glass Doors

We have all seen the video of the toddler walking through a sliding glass door, but do you know how to protect your kid from sliding glass doors in the future? Here are some steps to help protect your infant from sliding glass doors.

  • 1) Keep children in arms reach when in proximity to an open door-or better yet, keep them out of rooms with an open door.
  • 2) Make sure that your children are equipped with locks on their bedroom doors for added protection against windows and sliding doors.
  • 3) Avoid placing furniture near windows; this will reduce the chance children can get close to them and fall out.
  • 4) Install window guards for additional security if needed. Window guards will allow you to enjoy natural light while keeping kids away from windows or balconies without danger.

Where To Put Your Kids Toys For Safe Play

Toys can be a hazard to babies and toddlers. They end up in their mouths, ears, and noses. For that reason, parents need to look for safe toy storage options.

It is also essential to keep the toys in a designated space around the house. This keeps them organized and easy to find when you need them.

Use soft storage to avoid your baby hurting themselves if they pull the toys on their bodies accidentally. Keep harder toys out of reach to further minimize this risk.

Use locked cupboards using child safety locks to keep toys out of grasp, and consider using baby gates to block access if required when you're not there to supervise.
