It's great having a stunning home interior that represents your personality while showing off your sense of style and design. But what about the exterior of your house? A common mistake people make is focusing everything on the inside while neglecting the outside, and really, you should be giving it just as much love.  If you aren't sure how to go about this, here are some of the best ideas to improve your curb appeal.

Contain your own garden

Create your own instant garden to provide a welcoming feel outside of your home that is not only quick, but affordable too. You can buy these ready-made at garden centers, but if you'd prefer to get creative and do your own, just get a few containers and pack them with your favorite flowers. Use your personality and bring in colors that best describe yourself.

Replace gutters and downspouts

If you know that your gutter system is very old, it is definitely a good idea to change it. Even if you haven't been made aware of any real problems, that doesn't mean there aren't any. Over time you can expect to see rust spots, peeling paint, and maybe even some holes and splits. Avoid this from happening by getting a new system.

Update your garage door

Over time your style can change, and if you're still living in the past, it's likely that your garage is too. So why keep your rusty old door when you can get a new stylish one? There are plenty of sites that you can shop with, like https://www.bestdoors.com.au/residential/garage-doors/ who provide you with a huge selection of colors, materials and designs to choose from.

Dress up the front door

The front door is the focal point of any house as that is the point of entry. So make it a statement piece and give it that pop of color to add a bit of wow. It's your home, and if you feel like painting your front door bright pink, lime green, or fiery orange – so be it!

Upgrade Your Siding

Is your siding looking a little worse for wear? Then upgrading to better quality siding might just be the perfect answer to help you boost your curb appeal like never before. Finding an experienced James Hardie siding installer will no doubt aid you in transforming your property, as you can expect fresh modern designs made out of hard wearing materials that can stand the test of time. It’s so easy to upgrade your siding and you can help your home to take on a whole new style and aesthetic, so this is definitely an option that you should consider.

Add A Place To Sit

If you have a porch or a front garden, then adding a place to sit can really help to improve your curb appeal. Investing in something like a swinging bench or any other kind of homely outdoor seating can help to make your property appear more welcoming and inviting, and it can provide you and your family with the perfect place to relax during a warm summer's evening to watch the sun go down. Adding a place to sit is such an affordable way to upgrade your curb appeal!

Replace old tatty bits

This means anything like old door locks, door knobs, wall mounts, or house numbers should be replaced. It may only be small, but if it's grubby, then it will totally ruin any kind of style you have going on. So get rid of them and bring in some new decor that's bright, shiny, and modern! You want to try and get pieces that work collectively, as mixing and matching may not give you the desired effect, making things look messy.

Create some symmetry

Symmetry is something that gives the brain a satisfied and complete feeling. So making a conscious effort to create symmetry outside of your home is a very good idea. You can do this with light fixtures by hanging them on either side of your door. This will not only give you what you need, but it will also greet and guide people to your door once the sun has gone down.

Give your mailbox a makeover

Funk up your mailbox that makes you stand out from the crowd. First of all, think about the kind of mailbox you would like, it doesn't have to be the standard post, it could hang if you wanted it to. If you're feeling brave, you could even shop around for some three dimensional (waterproof) wallpaper and stick it onto the mailbox. Check with your mail carrier and local neighborhood officials to see what the rules are first.  You can find some ideas about designs out there on http://www.architectureartdesigns.com.

Add fence panels

If you have a front garden, consider adding a little fence around the edge as a decorative piece. This will work by enhancing the garden you have, the same way a frame does on a picture. You can find cheap fence kits in any garden center – remember that it doesn't need to be the best of quality either because you can just paint over it with another color or varnish to give you the desired effect.

Add outdoor art

Think about adding some enticing artwork to improve the curb appeal. One thing to remember though is that it must be weather resistant so that it doesn't get destroyed by rain or extreme sun. Choose something that compliments your home; you want it to work with it, not overshine it. Metal sculptures, wind chimes and bird baths are a great way of doing this. The position is everything too, so take a step back, and move it around until you find the perfect spot.

Invest in shutters

Shutters are a very European look that is famous in countries like France and Spain. Not only do they look cultured and pretty, but they have their own great uses too. Other than provide you with additional security to your home, they also control the light that is let in and out, along with the ventilation. They can come in many different types of material, but the most common being wood.

Renew your trim

So many people overlook the trim of their home, not even realizing it's there, and yet they aren't happy with how dull the house looks from the outside – the trim is most likely the problem. It's probably covered in dirt and muck and stained an unpleasant brown, and if this is the case, it's time for a makeover. This can simply be done with a lick of paint. Be daring with a bright red, or stay classic with a neutral tone like white or black.

Weed your walkway

A common problem for any homeowner, are weeds. They grow wherever they can outdoors, not only in your garden, but between slabs and cement. If your drive and walkway are suffering, you need to do something about it. Unfortunately, there is no cure for weeds as they will always find a way to come back, but you can stay on top of them, and that just means regularly pulling them up, or using various products that are out there on the market.

So as you can see, there are plenty of ways to improve your curb appeal without having to splash tons of cash; you just need to get creative.
