Rid Your Home Of Pests

If you think your home is infested, what should you do?

In the first instance if you have any suspicion at all in terms of an infestation of any kind in your home then the best port of call would be the experts who deal with this on a daily basis. Companies like Economy Exterminators can take away the stress and worry of an infestation, and also advise on ways to keep it that way once the job has been done. Don’t attempt to try and rid yourself of the infestation, as you may not realise how bad it possibly is.

Common household pests

Knowing what to do is one thing, but what sort of pests are likely to infest your home? How ia is best to avoid this situation from even occurring? I thought I would share with you some of the common pests and a few tips on how to avoid them taking control of your home.

Rats and mice

Rats and mice are some of the biggest pests you can get in your home, and they can often leave you feeling some of the most uncomfortable emotions as well. Many people only realise they have this problem when they begin to see feces around their home. Rats and mice normally manage to enter through an exterior hole of some sort and they can then get into your wall cavities. Inspect your home regularly for any possible entry points to avoid this from happening. Cats are also great deterrents of this sort of pest.

Cockroaches

I don’t think I have come across anyone who likes a cockroach, but they can also easily infest your home if you are not careful. No matter how clean your home is, because cockroaches are naturally drawn to more dirty places, you can still be at risk of an infestation. You may unknowingly have brought one into your home, you may have tread in cockroach eggs without realising, or they can sneak in through gaps of doorways or holes in the walls. Keep your home clean, and once you realise there is a problem call in the experts.

Ants

Ants are a smaller critter, but they can equally cause as much devastation in terms of an infestation in your home. If you start to notice that you have an ant problem then the best advice would be to try and find the source. Ants create homes, which may be inside the cavity of your walls, or somewhere else hidden away, but they can lead you to it. It is also best to ensure your home remains clean, especially the kitchen where crumbs can be lurking.

Bed bugs

Bed bugs are a big issue in terms of your bedroom. The infestation is normally undetectable until you start to see some of the symptoms of the infestation on yourself. Bed bugs can be in their thousands in your mattress and duvet covers, that you are sleeping in every night. They are attracted to the dead skin cells that accumulate in your bedding and on your mattress, so regular washing at a high temperature can help avoid this from happening. If you notice red itchy lumps then you may have a problem, and it is worth calling in the experts if washing and cleaning don’t fix the problem.

Termites

Finally, termites are another common infestation you can struggle with but one that can cause big problems to your home if not detected early enough. Termites excavate the wood in your home, leaving it hollow and breakable. So it is important to spot the early signs such as issues with the wood itself. If it is a new home you are buying, or you simply want to get your home checked over, call in the experts to help spot the most subtle signs of a termite infestation.

I hope that this has you more aware of the infestations that could occur in your home, and how best to avoid them.
