Everyone knows that home moving is one of life's big stressors. It's up there with divorce, retirement, and job changes for things that can keep people up at night and cause increased stress levels.
And it's little wonder why. Packing up your entire life and relocating it somewhere new, into the unknown, isn't for the faint-hearted, and even the most confident of people can get a bit overwhelmed and concerned at an impending move.
But the reality is your next house move does not need to be that stressful. In fact, there are actually some things you can do to make your life much easier when moving. Let's take a look.

Declutter
The thing with decluttering is not only is it cathartic, but it makes moving so much easier. The last thing you want to do is to pack up a load of junk you don't want and then unpack it, find a home for it, or get rid of it. So save yourself some stress and put together a comprehensive decluttering schedule as you pack.
Start room by room and section by section. Sort out one cupboard and then pack up everything you don't need to use on a regular basis but want to keep. Redistribute the items you don't want or need so they're not just piling up somewhere else, causing other areas ot be cluttered instead.
Book Movers
You can book movers in different capacities to help you out. If you really want to make life simple, you can book a moving company that packs everything up for you, relocates it, and then unpacks. This is especially helpful for parents, busy individuals, or those who physically cannot manage the packing aspect of moving home. Alternatively, you can book loading and unloading services or just furniture movers for bigger items only. But the trick is to book early so you get the preferred service on the dates you need at a good price.
Start Early
If you have the luxury of time before the moving date, start packing as soon as you can. Start with the items you don't use on a regular basis, like seasonal items or ornaments, or excess dishes, and you know the ones you keep for guests. If it's not something you need daily, get it packed, label the boxes, and stack them securely. If you can, have a designated room for all packed belongings to stay in, out of the way, so you can organize your life around everything else
Create A Moving Timeline
A timeline set in stone before you start can be the perfect guide to get things moving along. Your timeline needs to include things like when you need to book services by, ie, movers or cleaners, when you need to change addresses or get utilities changed or switched over, booking time off work, if applicable, and any remedial work or touch-ups you need to complete prior to the move, especially if you're moving from a rental. Make a list of everything you need to do, give it a date and projected completion time, i.e., a few hours or a couple of days, and slot it into your routine as and when appropriate to help you stay on top of everything.
