At this time of the year, you are probably going to be daydreaming about Christmas and thinking about how you can’t wait to indulge in all of the festivities. [ctt template=”4″ link=”04j_n” via=”yes” ]Are you moving at Christmas time? Don't try to wing it. Have a plan. Here are a few tips to help you out with the process.[/ctt]
Set the Date
The worst thing that you can possibly do is wing it over Christmas. You have to make sure that you have a plan and you also need to make sure that you have an agreed date as well. When you have this sorted out, you can then start to get organised. This will help the move to go smoothly and it will also help you to stop any hidden surprises too. If you are yet to fully decide on a mortgage, then Altrua Financial can help.
Clear up Snow and Leaves
You might not think that it’s likely that you’ll get a white Christmas this year but you do have to prepare for just about every weather condition. If you don’t then you may find that you end up in a bit of a mess. After all, ice, snow and sleet can make carrying heavy boxes a very dangerous task. If you want to help yourself here, then make sure that your driveway is clear for the day of the move. When you do, you will soon find that you are able to have a much more relaxed move overall.
Keep on Top of Your Bills
Christmas shopping needs to be done regardless of whether you are moving house or not. At the same time, you don’t want to accumulate any nasty debt. If you want to help yourself then make sure that you pay off your utility bills first and that you set up an account for your new property at the same time. This will help you to have a smooth transition and it will also help you out a lot with your move.
Book a Moving Company
If you want to enjoy Christmas with your family, then why not put a lot of the load onto someone else? If you are able to hire a moving professional early, then you can leave the packing and even the transportation to everyone else. When you do, you will be able to take back control over your Christmas and you may even find that you have a more efficient move as a result.
Christmas Shopping
You have to make sure that you do your Christmas shopping early. This will give you the chance to wrap up all of your gifts so that you can send them out before you move. If you don’t do this then you may find that you end up having to take them all with you when you move, and this can make everything that little bit more stressful.
Of course, moving at Christmas can be festive and fun, but limiting stress is the key to a smooth move. A lot of this comes down to preparation and organisation.
