Four Ways To Add Security To Your Back Yard

Adding security to your house doesn't just mean the interior of the house or the garage, you have to think about the exterior, too. Your front and back yard are both important fixtures to your house and you want them as safe as possible. When it comes to home security, the focus should be your entire house and land. You have to remember that the shed outside is just as at risk as the inside of your house!

Your patio furniture, your kids’ toys and your outdoor gazebo are just as at risk as the rest of the place. It’s important that you pay attention to the possibilities, here of someone coming to take things from your home. It's unimaginable, but it doesn't mean that you can’t find ways to make sure that your home is secure. In this article, you are going to learn four ways that you can add security to your backyard specifically to your home.

  • Light it up. You need to think about how you can deter thieves and those looking to cause harm and one of the easiest ways to do it is with lighting. Security lighting is made so that when people get too close, motion sensors flood the backyard with light. This is an immediate deterrent because the whole point of it for a thief is not to get caught. If you have lit up the backyard they’re going to want to get out of their sharpish! Motion sensor lighting adds security and it can be discreet, too. Position the lighting to be over any walkways around your house and across the backyard, too.
  • Install some cameras. Another way to add security to your house is with those security cameras we mentioned before. You can make these as discreet as you like and hide them in the shrubbery, the guttering and even in the awning around your house. Cameras can be smart ones, linked to your phone or internal screen and allow you to see who is moving around your home.
  • Add a privacy fence. Tall fencing around the exterior of your backyard is a good way to keep people out of it. You can cover it in anti climbing paint, too, which will help you to deter thieves. Your fences should be locked if there are any gates and for an added touch of protection, consider including barbed wiring around the top of the fence. No latches here, either as these can be jimmied easily.
