If you’re looking to make mouth-watering meals for your family, especially desserts, then it’s important to know that the X-factor that makes them truly hard to ignore rarely comes from a tin or a box. Sometimes, a ready-made dessert can be super convenient, but if you want to make dessert a little more special, you don’t need to go super elaborate. Just take some of the simplest and most popular recipes and make them yourself with these examples.

Cookies

Cookies are such a simple recipe that even a child can make them. Really, you just have to mix the ingredients together into cookie mix, add chocolate chips or whatever else you might want running through them, then leave them to bake. Just don’t eat too much of the cookie dough, as it contains raw eggs and flour which can be risky.

Brownies

Much like cookies, there isn’t a whole lot more to a brownie than simply bringing all the components together and baking them. In fact, it might be a little easier due to the fact that you can put it all in the same tray, without worrying about having to space them out. It’s all about finding your perfect approach to them, for instance, this fudgy brownie option is a great one for those who like theirs to be dense, moist, and super sweet.

Chocolate Pudding

Sometimes, you don’t want much more than a bowl full of something that’s delicious, reliable, and chocolate. This chocolate pudding recipe keeps things super basic, only using a few ingredients. You just have to add in the right ingredients, bit by bit, heating a little before refrigerating to end up with a super easy pick-up-and-eat treat. You can add whatever toppings you might like before refrigerating, whether you love some berries with it like adding a few nuts in there, or otherwise.

Apple Pie

There are few desserts more traditional and widely appealing than the classic apple pie. You can make your own additions to it, be it with berries, cherries, cinnamon, or otherwise, but learning to nail the basic and authentic apple pie recipe can rarely be beaten. Making the lattice crust can take a little practice but once you have it down, the mix of tart and sweet fall flavors with buttery and flaky crust is going to become a perennial favorite.

Vanilla Ice Cream

Ice cream can be delicious on its own, or it can go just as well with the brownies and apple pie mentioned above. However, it’s not that difficult to make ice cream yourself rather than getting it out of the tub. There are a lot of recipes that recommend egg custard, but you can make things even simpler for yourself with a Philadelphia-style ice cream that doesn’t use any eggs at all.

Homemade desserts are always going to taste better than what comes out of a box unless you happen to make a complete catastrophe out of it. The recipes above are fairly simple, so hopefully, that shouldn’t happen.
