Look on social media
One of the first things to consider would be to look on social media. It can be one of the best ways that you can get the inspiration that you need. Instagram is one of the first places you should look. There you will find many people having accounts specifically for their home. Whether they just love designing and tweaking areas of their home or whether it has been an online scrapbook documenting a renovation or extension, Instagram will have many pictures of different rooms perfect to give you inspiration. Pinterest is also a firm favorite, and while it can be more specific to storage solutions and room makeovers, you will certainly find some ideas that could help you feel inspired for decorating in your home.
The shabby chic effect
The shabby chic interior trend became hugely popular a few years ago and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. It is the type of interior finish that remains quite neutral, even though it can be quite specific at the same time. It can certainly appeal to the masses. Think about creams and pastel shades. White washed furniture and pieces that have a traditional element about them. Some of the finer details can be found in accent colors or even floral patterns and designs. It can certainly give you that cottage feel.
Shopping online
Shopping online is a great way to get the inspiration you need as many of these companies and businesses will be sharing pictures of interiors. Whether you are looking for specific furniture, or like the idea of Luxury Interior Design you will find something that works for you. In the pictures, you will be able to see the furniture laid out and presented in a specific interior design, which may inspire you to try something similar at home with your own furniture or the pieces of furniture that you end up buying.
Going all Scandinavian
Recently we have seen a trend of modern edginess being introduced into the home interior world and the inspiration is all things Scandinavian. Think about clean lines and a minimalist touch to seal the deal. Lots of modern rugs, modern furniture and white clean and crisp walls. Add an accent color and fill the room with accessories to bring the whole space to life. It’s a great idea for someone who is unsure of the decor direction but still wants to emulate a modern looking interior.

Look at friends and family homes
Have a friend that has an amazing house? Has your family got a place that you lust after? The next time you are there take note of how they have styled and decorated their homes. From flooring and lighting options to color schemes, this is where you can get some inspiration. Don’t be afraid to ask where something is from or even where their inspiration came from for the decoration choices. They will be flattered that you have noticed and shown interest. Of course, avoid replicating it completely and take the inspiration where needed and make changes to suit your home and personal style.
Inspired by Hygge
The Danish are known as some of the happiest people in the world, and they thank the practice of Hygge for that. Encapsulating all things to do with coziness and things that make you happy in your home can certainly emulate that. Think about a focus on soft furnishings and a warmer glow. This can be found from fireplaces, low lighting and candles. It is a great design option for all year, yet the autumnal vibe suits the seasons of autumn and winter really well. Warm colors on the walls, textures and layers, and even thinking about scents in your home. These factors can all help to create a Hygge home.
Retro and vintage vibes
Maybe you feel inspired by a decade gone by, or just love to keep hold of older looking items for sentimental reasons. You may then find your inspiration for your home interior is retro and vintage items. Websites like eBay are full of items people no longer want but could be perfect features or decorative pieces in your home. You might want to focus on a particular era and take influence from the style or fashionable colors of the time, or even mix and match with pieces you love. There are so many ways you can make this work in your home and it could also be a great reflection on your personality.
Rustic charm
Finally, who doesn’t love that cabin in the woods appeal when it comes to your home. Featuring rustic pieces, lots of wooden inspiration for furniture and ornaments and even using logs as decorative features of a fireplace. A wood theme will definitely dominate and it can certainly give off that rustic charm you might be after. It is definitely one interior design that can bring the outdoors in for a nature lover.
I hope you have found a few ideas for your next interior project.
