Your Garden Design

If you have the time and budget consider whether it is time to re-design your garden landscape. Landscaping your garden can be an exciting prospect and can allow you the perfect opportunity to craft the space you want. Whether that space is to grow plants, to home an inviting environment to sit and relax, or simply make your garden more practical and user-friendly, landscaping can give you the opportunity to do this.

If you plan on landscaping your garden it is always best to research the possibilities and practicalities thoroughly before the work commences. Trawl the internet for inspiration, visit garden centers, public gardens, or friends and families gardens to get an idea of the sort of garden you would like and importantly what you wouldn’t like or wouldn’t work in the space you have available. When you are in planning mode be sure to consider a few things that you may have to work with such as the walls and boundaries, hedges and fences, or paths and patios. You also need to look at the size and shape of the plot you have available. Once you have all of this collated start to sketch out your ideal garden and put your ideas on paper, or better yet use online virtual garden landscaping software to create a virtual impression of the garden you want. Not only will this help visualize the garden you are after but it is a great resource to hand over to the professionals when they are called in.

Picking The Perfect Furniture

Alfresco dining is one of the highlights of the summer months, and you need the perfect furniture so you can truly sit back, relax and enjoy the summer glow. Inspiration wise, you can go for the standard dining set made from cheap plastic, or you can put a bit more money aside now, and invest in some truly stunning wicker furniture. For the uninitiated in the ways of wicker, here is a wicker buyer's guide to give you some handy pointers. But if you are a family who has a swimming pool that's going to waste in the winter months, sun loungers would be best to give you that perfect opportunity to chill out and enjoy a nice relaxing meal by the pool.

Kids Area Or Not?

For those with the room, the temptation is to have a kids area, with a dollhouse, slide, and swings. It's your decision, but if you've got the space, then why don't you? It's going to be a lifesaver when you have a gathering, and you need the kids to be out of the way for at least 5 minutes so you can grill those juicy burgers. There are some fantastic kids playsets that are easy to assemble, so you can take them down and put them in the garage when you are done.

Go Rustic

If you’ve got a stone patio, why don't you try and bring that rustic style to the garden, and build a stone barbecue with connecting tables and chairs, but also have it located under a shelter? It's great if, on the off-chance, it starts to rain in the middle of your barbecue! Buying a barbecue station can cost a lot of money, and can be left out to rust if not taken care of properly. By having a covered stone barbecue, you don't have that worry!

Bring On The Entertainment!

If you are sociable, but you can't bear to miss the big game, you can build a space to put your TV in, set up a nice roaring fire outside, and serve up a few burgers and hot dogs while enjoying the match, or have a nice movie night with friends! It's the perfect time to enjoy a barbecue while still watching your favorite TV show or sporting event. Just make sure your privacy isn't compromised to really enjoy the moment with your family and friends. If in doubt, you can always add a fence or maybe privacy panels if you want something at a lesser cost.

There's something more relaxed about eating alfresco or enjoying time with friends. So, start to think about the time when winter gives way to spring, and then you can finally start to build your dream garden space. If you have spent most of your winter looking out the window longing for the sun to come out, this is the perfect project to keep you focused so you can relish that moment when it happens!
