Moving is one of the most stressful times in a person’s life, which means anything you can do to prepare ahead of time is going to help ease that. There are several tips for moving home furniture safely that can ensure the entire process will go smoothly.

When you’re looking for home furniture movers near Melbourne, the responsibility to make sure you do everything safely rests on both you and the movers you hire. Working together, there are some general tips you both want to follow.

Use Sliders

Furniture is bulky, and that makes it potentially dangerous to move. Furniture sliders can help protect hardwood floors and even carpet from gouging and scraping that might otherwise occur. They make sliders from a durable plastic or rubber material with a smooth felt side opposite it to allow your furniture to glide harmlessly across hardwood floors.

Use Furniture Dollies

Too many people are tempted to lift and transport extremely heavy items on their own. It's unsafe to move a large sectional sofa or a refrigerator on your own and completely unnecessary as well. Furniture dollies can use wheels and leverage to help you move these bulky items in a way that won't hurt your back or cause injuries.

Learn Proper Technique

When you hire home furniture movers near Melbourne or anyone who is a professional in the industry, they can tell you there is a right way and a wrong way to lift heavy items. You need to use your legs to help you get heavy things off the ground and bend at the knees, not at your waist. All of this will help ensure your back doesn't sustain any injury and you don't suffer pain because of poor moving techniques.

Have Backup

Even though it can be tempting and sometimes even more expedient to do an entire job on your own rather than enlist the aid of others, it's not always a good idea. Moving furniture is best done with help. At least one other person will be necessary if you plan to move large items like sofas, recliners, and major appliances.

Wrap Things Up

Most of us know that you should wrap breakables like dishes, framed photos, and mirrors. You could wrap furniture as well to protect it from dings, stains and scrapes. Furniture wrap is relatively inexpensive and creates a buffer around furniture so it won't gouge walls or get scraped up in transit.

Also, you can find a trustworthy realtor near you who can guide you with the basics. Also, a good real estate agency can assist you in the future when you are looking for renting, buying or selling a house.
