What Makes Moving In Stressful & How To Fight It Off

Americans move homes almost 12 times during their lifetime. You'd think we are used to it and know how to manage the stress of moving out and moving in. But in reality, changing homes remains one of the most stressful events in the life of many Americans.

Why is it so stressful?

First of all, most people find it tough to pack and move their belongings safely. It is not uncommon to break some of the most fragile items during packing or even transportation. Ideally, if you want to protect your mental health, it is a good idea to take the plunge and hire professional removal experts to help. Many companies can even provide additional services such as packing your belongings securely on your behalf. This can be a time-saver tip for families who have to move across a long distance. You don't have to worry about your stuff and can hop on a plane! Your items will await you in your new home.

But the stress doesn't end with receiving your boxes in good condition. There's a lot more going on, which can make moving unpleasant even if it is necessary. So what else is a source of stress, and what can you do about it?

You move into an empty property

If a property has been left empty for a long time, chances are you've got some unexpected guests. No, we're not talking about squatters who take advantage of the unused house. We're talking about rodents, bugs, and other unpleasant pests. It may be worth considering pest control evaluation before you move in. How can you know for sure whether you've got pests in your new home when you don't live there yet?

There are a few signs you can spot from photos. You can check these useful pest control blogs to see what a wasp or a termite infestation might look like. So, you're equipped with the knowledge you need to seek support before you move in!

Your new home doesn't feel homely

Moving in is only the first step. Then you need to consider decorating, and that can take several months. We all know how impractical it can be to paint a room when you need to temporarily relocate all your furniture. So, why not hire a professional team to add a fresh coat of paint to your home before you arrive? Painting before you move in can be a fantastic idea to get everything ready:

  • Everything is refreshed and new
  • You can create a brand new color palette for the property
  • You save time; no need to do it later!
  • Your new house feels homely already

Additionally, you can arrange with your removal team to tidy your belongings when they deliver the boxes. They can put away cookware and glassware in the kitchen cabinets, build your bookshelves and arrange your books and decorative items accordingly, fold and hang your clothes into the wardrobes, and place the necessary furniture in each room. All you have to do when you arrive is to sit down and enjoy your new home!

Moving homes typically is synonymous with a lot of preparation work to make your new space viable. But if you've got professional teams to help clear, tidy, and decorate your new home, you can significantly decrease your stress load!
