Your home should be the space where you can completely relax and be yourself. However, not everybody's home is as they want it to be. One of the best things you can do is to work towards making your home less stressful. What are the ways to do this?

Identify Your Most Relaxing Places
This is the first thing you need to do. Consider places you go outside of your home that are relaxing to you. Think about when you visit someone else's home or when you are on vacation. What is it about that place that makes you feel relaxed? Many people feel the most relaxed when they can sit beside water. Or, some people prefer to do something that relaxes them by getting their whole body moving, like swimming. Swimming is one of those practices that's fantastic for exercise but is also very relaxing. However, some people don't like the idea of having a pool in their backyard because the neighbors can see it. But it's easy to browse the many pool enclosures online to ensure that you can maintain a high level of privacy.
Bringing the Outside Inside
If you have identified that nature relaxes you, but you don't get to spend much time out there because of the weather or your living situation, you can always bring the outside in. You could stock your space with plants that make it feel like you are in a plantation or a meadow. The best way to do this is to invest in low-maintenance plants, as you don't need to worry as much about looking after them. Plants like succulents are a perfect choice.
Have You Decluttered?
Genuinely, have you really decluttered your home? If you cannot find anything, this can be very stress-inducing. It is a priority that you need to address. You don't have to necessarily become minimalist but think about creating a specific place for each item you own. When you find a home for everything, this saves you time in the long run. If clutter comes in the form of piles of papers, either tackle them and shred everything, or put it all in a nice pretty box, so at the very least, you don't need to look at it.
Go for Calm Colors
Cool and calm colors will make for a more calming atmosphere. Think about the colors you would see in a beauty spa, like soft neutral colors and blues. Often, when you think of your favorite hotel room you have ever stayed in, it probably had neutral or cool colors as well. This change of background color will be effective on your mood immediately after painting. When we are surrounded by harsh colors, it can unwittingly send our stress levels up. You will likely get comments with your very next visitor saying something like, “your home is so peaceful” or “I feel really relaxed here.”
Consider Symmetry
This is definitely one for people who have a slight bit of OCD. If you feel stressed because there's a never-ending amount of clutter, symmetry can create balance in any space. If you are someone that can never calm down, symmetry might be the perfect way to help you get to sleep at night.
Your home can be the perfect place to exercise and to get you energized, but it is nothing if you cannot relax in your home as well.
