Oath Essentials Product Review
We received our package right before Christmas! The products were packaged very well with materials that are earth friendly. Our family does use many reusable products, mostly to save money. We are not as “earth friendly conscious” as we could be. But, little by little, we do make changes here and there.
In this review, you need to realize that we are mostly coming from the viewpoint at how much money we can save and whether the products work well and look nice. These photos were taken over the holiday when junk food and sugary drinks are in our home. If you arrived at my home unannounced on a non-holiday, you would find only coffee, tea, juice, milk, sugar-free lemonade and water to drink!
The photo below shows all of the products we received for this review. We received the following Oath Essential products…
- several straw cleaning brushes
- 16 silicon tips to prevent teeth and lips from hot and cold drinks
- 8 rainbow stainless steel straws
- 8 silver stainless steel straws
- 1 natural silk dental floss in a nice stainless steel container
- 8 rose gold stainless steel straws
- 4 bamboo toothbrushes in blue, red, peach (shown in photo), and pink colors
Reusable Straws, Silicon Tips and Straw Cleaning Brushes
My teen daughter, Mercedes felt the rose gold straw looked aesthetically pleasing along with her Arizona tea can, which has some gold coloring on its packaging. She decided to try it without the silicon tip as our drinks were in a cooler with ice for our guests and were not that cold. It worked out fine, she didn't mention that it was too cold.
Miranda, my eight year old, decided to try a silver one first and she said she liked using it. She prefers the bent tip over the straight ones.
Mitchell, my 3 year old, tested the silicon tips. Would he pull it off and try to eat it if not supervised? Yes! So I do recommend watching your little ones if you decide to use the tips. I personally don't feel they are necessary if you are not giving them anything colder than refrigerator temperature and our family doesn't drink hot drinks through straws. We just never have. He liked using it. The shortest bent straw is the right height for a little one to enjoy. I think it would be wise to keep the tips out of the reach of small children when in storage as well.
Okay, now it's my turn! What I didn't like is that I could not find any use or washing instructions for newbs. This may change by the time you read this post, I would check their YouTube channel.
Because I like to save time, I put the straws in my dishwasher at an angle in the silverware basket so they wouldn't fall through the holes. Then, I put one straw cleaner through the brushes and tips afterwards really quick just to be sure everything came off. To clean the straw cleaner, I laid it flat in the top tier of my 3 tier dishwasher rack, where utensils go. To wash the silicon tips, I placed them in the silverware basket that has a hinged lid so they wouldn't float around and get lost in the cycle.
A person could hand wash, but I am a large family mom of eight kids. Four are taller than me and eat as such, I would be standing at the sink most of the day if I hand-washed! You can see in the photo below how the straw cleaner brush goes into the straw and is long enough to push all the way through.
What I loved was the color of the rainbow reusable straws! It put me in a good mood just looking at them! They have a bit of weight to them that feels high quality. I was concerned that the tip may be a cut edge and might cut my family members, but it is rounded off and feels just fine!
When I used them, I tried them with and without the silicon tips and really, I can't make up my mind what way I like to use it. I really enjoy having ice in my drinks so I wondered if that would make the tip too cold for me to drink it without the tip. The result was that it was a little cold, but not freezing. It might be due to the thickness of the metal. I have tried some very thin ones in past that WERE too cold without the tips. This is a quality product.
Each member of my family seems to prefer the bent tips rather than the straight straws. I am wondering if I can somehow bend the straight ones? This is what a rose gold straw looks like with a blue silicon tip. Isn't it lovely?
Bamboo Toothbrushes
I have never used a bamboo toothbrush before this review. It looks and feels like wood. I know that it makes biodegradable sense. There are reports of plastic toothbrushes floating in the ocean and that does bother me, yet I absolutely love the price at my local dollar store, especially when I am presently buying nine of them (our baby doesn't have teeth yet). I noticed that it is very straight compared to the curved plastic one we own.
Here is one in the main bathroom compared to our other toothbrushes.
I found that even without the bend, it does actually reach all parts of my teeth. The feeling in my mouth took some getting used to at first as it didn't slide like the plastic ones do, it kind of sticks a little, but it works and I feel proud of myself for using an eco-friendly toothbrush. I also miss the rubbery feel in my hand as wood is rather hard, but again – helping the earth out makes a person feel good too.
Here is a video put out by Oath Essentials on how to properly dispose of the bamboo toothbrush when you are done with it. As a newb, I am so happy to have this education! Watch this video all the way to the end to see other ways to re-purpose your toothbrush. My favorites are to scrub the cheese grater and to label garden plants!
Natural Silk Dental Floss
The quality of the dental floss is amazing! It feels and looks more natural than my waxy dollar store stuff. It feels more like cotton. I was surprised to learn that it is made from the mulberry silkworm's cocoon. So it is silk. It does have a wax feel to it, which is from a natural candelilla wax, but it's not overdone. It feels good on my fingers and in my teeth and it gets the job done. I like it.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I have really enjoyed using these products and am so happy we were chosen to do a review. I hope you will give them a try!

Thank you for reading, Cindy!

I’m very interested in the dental floss. I have a sublingual retainer and it often shreds floss so I have to use a lot more of it. Thanks for taking the time to do this review.
