This is my product review of Young Living Thieves® products. I don't have all of the Thieves® products in this article as there are just so many, but I do have some of the ones that I have tried and give my opinion on them with some photos for you to see.

Product Review of Young Living Thieves® Products

About Thieves®

Here is some information from the Young Living website so you have some details about them. “Thieves® essential oil blend is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils. Formulated by Young Living founder, D. Gary Young, this blend was created from research recorded in the archives of the British Museum library about a group of 14th century European perfumers and spice traders who rubbed oils on themselves while they robbed the dying.” This was back when there was a terrible plague! Yet they were healthy!

From the website again, “The first essential oil blend to be scientifically evaluated in a university research laboratory, Thieves has a rich, spicy aroma, and is a key ingredient in our Thieves Home Collection – your go to for an invigorating clean and healthy home.”

I am thinking in my mind that I don't intend to rob the dead or dying, but I do want my family to be as healthy as possible, even with plagues or whatever illnesses all around us and the more ways we use this stuff, the better!

Young Living Essential Oils Company has a complete line of home and personal care products infused with the pleasant, spicy aroma of their proprietary Thieves® essential oil blend. The Young Living oils come with a “seed to seal” promise of purity. They are the leader in setting the standard for essential oil purity and potency.  They  have single oils, oil blends, household cleaners, skin care products, massage oils, supplements, NingXia Red® berry products, and so much more. In this article we are going to review just the Thieves® products.

Thieves® Laundry Soap

My husband has very sensitive skin and we have spent much money over the years in testing at the dermatologist to find out what he is allergic to. One of the chemicals he is allergic to is iodopropynyl butylcarbamate along with a few others. Sadly, laundry detergent manufacturers in the United States don't have to list this ingredient on their labels!!!

He just has to be a “guinea pig” and wash an item with the detergent and see if he reacts! This angers me! Young Living actually lists their ingredients…

From their website… “Water, Decyl glucoside, Glycerin, Sodium oleate, Lauryl glucoside, Caprylyl glucoside, Sodium carbonate, Alpha amylase, Lipase, Protease, Sodium gluconate, Carboxymethyl cellulose, Citrus limon† (Lemon) peel oil, Citrus aurantium bergamia† (Bergamot) peel oil (Furocoumarin-free), Citrus limon† (Jade lemon) peel oil, Eugenia caryophyllus† (Clove) bud oil, Cinnamon zeylanicum† (Cinnamon) bark oil, Rosmarinus officinalis† (Rosemary) leaf oil, Eucalyptus radiata† leaf oil

†Premium essential oil”

Well, I still didn't know what some of those were so I still had to wash an article of his clothing and try it to see if he reacted. The results? No reaction! And his clothes smell clean! I had been making my own laundry soap, but I never liked the smell of the clothing afterwards. With Thieves® Laundry Soap, I love the smell of the clothing and his skin does not react!

Lately, I have been making my own Thieves Laundry Soap Extender Recipe to stretch my budget by getting double the laundry detergent with this great Young Living Laundry Soap and it works great to give me clean, great smelling clothes with no skin reaction!

Thieves® Waterless Hand Purifier

To me, this feels similar to other hand sanitizers that I have used in the past, but it has a better smell (less offensive). It spreads nicely on my hands and I do feel like they are “clean” after using it. Also, I noticed that my hands didn't feel as dry and my skin didn't crack as it does with other sanitizers. Instead, my hands felt a touch more oily or moisturized. I do like that rather than having cracked skin.

Thieves™ Fruit & Veggie Spray

I tested this out on grapes that are not considered organic. The grapes came straight from the store bag. I placed them into a glass bowl, then sprayed them.

I then used my clean fingers to rub in the spray.

I then rinsed them thoroughly using a strainer and cold water.

I had the glass bowl under it to catch the “dirty” water. I could see that some of the dirty specks from the grapes are in the rinse water.

I placed them into a bowl lined with a napkin and then used the napkin to dry them off.

I then tasted them to see if it tasted different. I found that there was a touch of a taste of something similar to “a spicy lemon” is how I described it, but it wasn't enough of a taste to not enjoy the grapes. It kind of reminds me when someone splashes cut apples with lemon juice. I liked that I was eating a clean food with no pesticides or other things from the environment on the outside of it and I felt like it was cleaner than just using water, like I usually do.

Thieves® Toothpaste

So, I tried both the Thieves® AromaBright™ Toothpaste (made with spearmint leaf extract) and the Thieves® Dentarome® Plus Toothpaste (made with wintergreen oils). They are both made with other ingredients that you can read on the website, I am just trying to show you how the flavor differs a little.

Okay, I am going to tell you that I have a love/hate relationship here…

Love

The Thieves® Dentarome® Plus Toothpaste says it “gently lifts stains for vivid, brilliantly clean teeth” and it actually does! My teeth are not as stained and they feel (when I lick them with my tongue) like they are cleaner. When using it, I went to an extended family gathering and a few people noticed that my “teeth are so white”. I am usually the one to say that to people! I think this was the first time someone has said it to me! (I personally feel like the Thieves® AromaBright™ Toothpaste makes my teeth white and they feel clean, but I haven't had others comment when I use it.)

When I eat garlic or onions or even some potato chips, I hate the after-taste and will go brush my teeth and tongue to try and get it off. I usually have to brush them three times until I feel better. When I brush my teeth and tongue just ONE TIME with either of these flavors of toothpaste, the after taste and bad breath are gone! I am still in shock about this. It does not even make sense to me!

The smell and taste of the Thieves® AromaBright™ Toothpaste, this one is my absolute favorite!

Hate

That my toothbrush looks so dirty after I brush my teeth with each of the ones I have tried, my teeth must really be getting clean for a change.

The smell of the Thieves® Dentarome® Plus Toothpaste – it smells like a home cleaning product to me rather than a toothpaste. However, my adult son likes it, so it may be a preference thing.

The texture – both of them are rather gritty compared to other brands of toothpaste I used to use.

Thieves® Household Cleaner

For this review, I used a plastic spray bottle. It is okay to use a plastic bottle for this mixture. Some essentials oils mixtures require an amber spray bottle or glass spray bottle.

How Do You Know How Much To Use?

I noticed on the back label that it gives an idea of how much to mix.

So I used half an ounce for my 16 ounce bottle and one ounce for my 28 ounce bottle and filled it a little higher. I tested Thieves® Household Cleaner in four ways: window cleaning, counter cleaning, table cleaning and toilet porcelain cleaning.

 

Window Cleaning

I sprayed the window with the product and wiped it off. It was very simple and seemed to work just fine as a glass cleaner. I did not care for the smell, but again, I am pregnant, so maybe someone without such a “sensitive nose” would be fine with it. I would describe it as a spicy lemon-ish smell.

Counter Cleaning

I sprayed it on my counter.

I felt it cleaned the counter very well and I felt like I could safely eat something that was placed on the counter and not worry about germs or bacteria on it.

Table Cleaning

Below is an example of how dirty my dining room table is. I was hoping that this cleaner would get out permanent marker and pen markings.

I really like how it makes my table look freshly oiled and the wood look beautiful, and yet doesn't feel oily, but it does not seem to get out permanent marker or old ink stains.

Toilet Porcelain Cleaning

I am too embarrassed to show you my bathroom as I am a mom of 4 sons (and 4 daughters), but if you are a mom of boys, then you know… I don't have to explain. Anyways, this product works wonderfully on cleaning the porcelain parts of the toilet and the floor around the toilet. I also use it to clean our toddler potties (we have one for each bathroom). I feel like I am killing bad germs and that makes me feel like I am doing my job as a mommy.

My Opinion

Overall, I absolutely feel like my family is healthier. I love that we are killing bad germs in a toxin free way! I enjoy using them and plan to keep buying them, even the wintergreen tasting Thieves® Dentarome® Plus Toothpaste, since my son likes it.
